Carey Stallworth in the # 83 Bomber Wins The $5,000.00  Avenger Track Attack Series!

Is there ever a big money race without controversy?

Jerry Lewis in the #7k car looked like he was on his way to a 4th win in the Bomber $5,000.00 Purse Series.
Jerry took command of the Squadron of Bombers holding on to the lead throughout the 50 lap feature. Hot on his
"6" was Carey Stallworth in the #83 Bomber. Try as he might, Stallworth was unable to catch Lewis on the track...
In the Pits we have a different story.

In the post race Tech check, after an extremely thorough analysis of both the #7K and #83 car, it was discovered
that Jerry Lewis was running cam was out of specs for the Bomber Class.  The Stallworth car, after receiving the same
analysis as the Lewis car, passed the post race tech inspection. Due to this rule violation, Avenger Speedway
had no choice but to declare Carey Stallworth the winner of the series and will be awarding him the $5,000.00 purse.

Please bare with me as I get up on my soap box...

First... No professional ever wants to win or lose due to a technicality. Cary Stallworth admitted, that Lewis put on a
strong performance and in fact out drove him. But the rules are very specific and the Lewis car was out of specs.

The staff of Avenger bent over backwards in verifying the measurement of the Lewis cam... it was examined on site by the track's
Track's Techman, Flagman and track owner Chris Coggin. After the tech check, Chris took possession of the cam on
stored it under lock and key. Monday morning, Chris took the cam to an out of state machinist to verify the cam. Four times
the machinist measured the cam... four times the readings were the same.

Tuesday morning, Chris Fed-Xed the cam to Competition Cams for further verification and to issue a certification card
with the measurements. Is Avenger going to extremes to verify the specs on Jerry's cam... YES We Are... but... we would
do this for any driver, not just Jerry.

In our talks with Jerry Lewis, Jerry explained to our satisfaction that this rule violation was not on purpose but was in fact
an over site on his part. The cam was shipped to him in a box marked as a 420 cam and not the 502-507 it actually was.
Every other aspect of the #7K car met specs save the cam.

Avenger accepts and stands behind Jerry's explanation. This was unintentional error for which Jerry has paid an extremely
high price. He understands the error and the ruling, while hard to swallow, he accepts the ruling. Avenger Speedway welcomes
Jerry Lewis to the track anytime he chooses to run.

Second... A point was made by a few of the uniformed that "Avenger spent 3 hours tearing apart Jerry's car and was bound
and determined to find something wrong with the 7K car and only 1 hour on Stallworth's car.

Avenger does not dismantle any driver's car! The driver's crew dismantles the engine and hands each piece to the Tech crew
for inspection. The fact that it took the Lewis crew 3 hours to break down the engine rests with the crew not the Avenger Tech team.

The race is over, the winner has been announced, the purse is to be paid out. It's time to put this behind us and keep moving forward.
